Hey Heli people.
I have been melting the interweb of operators for several months now with CVs and requests for application form for any upcoming positions. I was set to blow the cobwebs of passport and start calling in to operators in north sea sectors through u.k and europe, so I started to make calls to operators human remains depts to say I may be in area. And here is the catch 22.
In my experience in the past, when CVs would arrive in to where I was working, they would get glance and unless company was very stuck a polite response was sent, thank you and should anything arise in future yadda yadda we ll contact you but If someone called in person with CV and spoke to chief pilot and they looked like good fit they would get serious consideration and more often than not,the 1st seat available. This approach I found works, to put face to CV to stand out.
I made a call to an operator in Aberdeen and said I would be in area and would it be possible to speak to someone in ops or training section or janitor or window cleaner and was told in no uncertain circumstances NOT to come as they dont have time to speak with anyone and security issues and yadda yadda.
"send CV"
"did that few times, no response "
Catch 22?
I understand industry is in flux (termoil) at moment. But would hate to lose out on opportunity because I m crap at writing Cvs but can give good account for myself in person. My main backround is training and on paper that is considered entry level flying until you get "real job", but I accumulated a lot of time in this area and operational experience setting up FTO but still has no cred on paper.
I know that when tide turns, and it will, operators will ask "why did you not call in with CV?"

CHC Scotia - The worst HR Dept. I have ever delt with.
Bristow ABZ - HofT has no social skills. Chief Pilots are very nice guys.
Bond - HofT is a very nice chap and very helpful, shame about the rest of the management.
Sadly there are very few jobs right now, CHC are looking at making most Puma L fleet pilots redundant. Bond are expanding but can be a tough company for civvi pilots to get in to. Bristows... well they are probably dealing with CHC pilots looking to jump ship.
Maybe try DanCopter, CHC Norway, Bristow Norway, HeliHolland and CHC Denmark. I am sure you have already tried these.
A good CV is essential with companies like this, they are not interested if you passed gym class when you were 15, but only in your flying career and qualifications. If you have knowledge of FTO and AOC systems make sure you get it on there, every bit of experience helps. Break down your hours in to the following categories:
PIC
Multi Crew
SE
ME
IR/IMC
Night
and Instructional if qualified.
Make sure you include a photo from shoulders up.
Ask around if anyone could take alook and give their opinions on your CV before you send it off to companies.
Best of luck. I will try and help as much as I can about anymore questions you may have.
