April 15, 2011
AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce that Liza Transport International of Burkina Faso has recently taken delivery of a Grand light twin engine helicopter. The aircraft will be used for VIP/passenger transport duties. This handover marks the entrance of AgustaWestland in Burkina Faso and expands the presence of company's helicopters in the Sub-Saharan Africa French speaking region following sales in Congo Brazzaville and Benin.
Patrick Chabrat, Vice President Sales Sub-Saharan Region, AgustaWestland said "We are happy to add another important customer which allows us to enter a new market further strengthening our presence in the Sub Saharan region. The company's range of products has achieved growing success in the last decade in various African countries and we are confident we'll find additional opportunities in this region in the future."
Liza Transport International CEO, Mr Bankoungou, said "It gives us great pleasure to receive our VIP-configured Grand helicopter. This purchase represents the first step of a strategy which will enable our company to become the benchmark for helicopter transport, aviation operations and VIP services across the entire Western Africa region."
The Grand has set new standards in the light twin market and features the highest cruise speed, full Category A/Class 1 performance, the largest and most comfortable cabin in the light twin class as well as state-of-the-art avionics. As the fastest helicopter in its class, thanks to its low drag aerodynamic design, the Grand is also an extremely environmentally friendly aircraft with low fuel consumption per passenger mile and a low noise signature. The cabin layout is designed for maximum comfort and utilises the finest materials and craftsmanship with a range of equipment options. A wide choice of modular interiors and tailored avionics solutions makes it a suitable platform for a range of roles including corporate/VIP transport, EMS, SAR, offshore transport, patrol and government agency missions. Almost 290 units have been sold in over 30 countries to nearly 170 customers worldwide so far.
Liza Transport International is part of EBOMAF Group, focused on public works and housing as well as trade and transport. Headquartered in Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, the Group operates across the Sub-Saharan region.
